Democrats eye West Plains seats

Wilson, the former independent, is the only candidate who’d filed with the Washington Public Disclosure Commission for the seat currently held by Holy as of Monday.

Wilson said he’d been in talks with Democrats since his unsuccessful 2016 congressional campaign to run under their banner.

Describing himself as a centrist, Wilson said “I think I’m a good fit for the 6th district,” said Wilson. “My profile is reflective of the people that have lived here.”

Wilson is a candidate for State Rep in 2018 for 6th LD

Dave Wilson, announced he is running for State Representative in the 6th Legislative District of Washington State. Wilson will run as a Democrat for position 2.

Wilson has extensive experience in business, management, and education.

“Children, working families and small businesses need an advocate who understands the 6th District – and will represent our values on education, healthcare, economic development and wise use of our tax dollars,” Wilson says.

Wilson is an experienced candidate who twice ran for Congress as an independent in 2014 and 2016, and earned a Primary Election endorsement from the Spokesman-Review both years.

“As I’ve been talking with people in the 6th District it is clear that we need a visible, accessible, and responsive representative who will actively champion our interests in suburban Spokane, West Plains cities and our agricultural areas, not just toe the line for issues decided by party leadership,” Wilson says.

Wilson is a founding board member of People for Effective Government, a Spokane based bipartisan coalition of center-left and center-right voters who are committed to changing the current polarized political climate to one of civility and common sense.

Wilson founded Interface Computer School in 1982, and sold the company to one of his employees in 2011. During his 30 years as President of the school, Wilson served as an advisory board member and chair for the Washington State Private School Advisory Committee. In 2005, Wilson was elected to serve as a commissioner of the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training, a national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education; he served on the Commission from 2005 to 2014, and was Vice Chair for two years and Chair for three years.

Wilson, and his wife Linda of 35 years, raised all six of their children in Spokane and currently live on Five Mile Prairie. Wilson also is a past member of the Spokane Chamber, and the subsequent Greater Spokane Incorporated, a business development organization.
